Preparing for your endodontic (root canal) treatment is essential to ensure a safe, effective, and stress-free procedure. Whether you're visiting us for the first time or returning for continued care, following a few simple pre-treatment guidelines can help make your experience with Apex Endodontics and Implantology Specialists as comfortable as possible.
Important: Please continue taking your regular medications unless otherwise instructed by your physician or our office. This includes medications for blood pressure, heart conditions, anxiety, diabetes, and other chronic conditions.
If you have any concerns about how your medications may interact with the treatment, please contact us ahead of time.
Unless your endodontic treatment involves IV sedation or general anesthesia, you should eat a normal meal prior to your appointment. Avoid coming in on an empty stomach, as this may cause lightheadedness or nausea during or after the procedure.
Note for IV Sedation Patients:
You will receive separate instructions regarding fasting from our team prior to your appointment.
Please bring a written list of all medications you’re currently taking, including dosage and frequency. This helps our team ensure that your treatment is safe and appropriately planned.
Be sure to notify our staff about:
This information is critical in customizing your care and preventing complications.
Some patients—especially those with certain heart conditions or joint replacements—may be advised to take antibiotics before endodontic procedures. This is a preventive measure to reduce the risk of infection. Please follow this recommendation carefully, and reach out to our office if you have questions.
If you are receiving oral or IV sedation, you must arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure. Sedation may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day.
Dress in loose-fitting, comfortable clothing for your appointment. If you’re receiving sedation, we may need to monitor your vital signs, so a short-sleeved shirt is ideal.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your appointment. This allows time for check-in, reviewing your medical history, and answering any last-minute questions you may have.
Your comfort and care are our top priorities. During your endodontic appointment, our specialists will:
We use advanced tools such as microscopes and CBCT imaging to ensure precise, efficient care.
If you’re unsure about any of the pre-treatment instructions or have special health considerations, don’t hesitate to reach out. Our friendly team is happy to walk you through the process and make sure you’re fully prepared for your visit.
