Tooth Saving Tips
At Apex Endodontics and Implantology Specialists in Saratoga, we're passionate about empowering patients with knowledge. Today, patients have a wide range of options for treating their teeth. It's important to understand these choices and how they can affect your future dental health and lifestyle. Keep reading to find out why nothing beats your natural tooth, and get some easy tips for preserving your teeth!
Opting for endodontic treatment to save a natural tooth should consistently be the initial preference for optimal health and cosmetic outcomes. The benefits of preserving your natural tooth are extensive:
Efficient Chewing: With your natural tooth intact, chewing becomes more efficient, allowing you to enjoy your meals without discomfort or limitations.
Normal Biting Force: Preserving your natural tooth means maintaining the normal biting force you're accustomed to. This enables you to continue relishing your favorite foods without concern about biting pressure.
Natural Appearance: Your natural tooth is irreplaceable when it comes to aesthetics. By saving it through endodontic treatment, you preserve the natural look of your smile, ensuring it remains as close to its original form as possible.
Cost-Efficiency: Saving your natural tooth can also be cost-effective in the long run. It helps in avoiding the need for more extensive and costly dental work that might become necessary if the tooth is lost.
Prevention of Adjacent Tooth Problems: Losing a tooth can lead to problems for adjacent teeth, such as shifting or overloading. By saving your natural tooth, you maintain the integrity of your entire dental structure.
Opt for Root Canal Treatment: When faced with the choice between root canal treatment and tooth extraction, always lean towards root canal treatment. Preserving your natural tooth is incredibly valuable, as options like dentures, bridges, or implants can't quite match its functionality and aesthetics.
Inquire About Root Canal Options: If your dentist suggests tooth extraction, inquire about the possibility of root canal treatment as a viable alternative.
Consult with Our Endodontic Experts: Should your dentist deem a root canal procedure unfeasible, don't hesitate to ask for a referral to one of our experienced endodontists. With advanced training specifically focused on saving teeth, our specialists are adept at diagnosing and addressing tooth pain while employing cutting-edge equipment for swift and comfortable treatment.
Avoid Extraction for Cost Alone: Never decide on extraction solely because you think it will be cheaper. When a natural tooth is removed, it necessitates replacement with an artificial tooth to prevent adjacent teeth from shifting and to forestall potential future dental issues. The combined cost of a denture, bridge, or implant, along with the extraction, often surpasses the cost of an endodontic procedure that can preserve the tooth for the long term.
Consider Comprehensive Costs: While extraction might appear more affordable initially, it's vital to consider the broader financial implications. Most dental insurance plans cover endodontic treatment, making it a practical and often more cost-effective choice in the long run.

Hands down, one of the BEST dentist. If not, THEN THE BEST. I am usually SCARED of dental procedures. I came in for a root canal and they made me feel SO comfortable, gave me knowledge on how the procedure will go, and were one of the nicest staffs I met in ANY BUSINESS. They are so good at what they do to the point I didn't feel any pain at all from start to finish. THANK YOU APEX, YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING.

Everyone is so so nice and professional! Dr. Prakash explains everything very well. Her and the dental assistance, Stacy, both kept checking on me throughout my procedure. My appointment was about 1.5 hours for a consultation, x-rays, and a root canal. Would definitely recommend!

Can't recommend enough! Went in for tooth pain/sensitivity where my crown is. Evaluation determined I needed a root canal. So if course I was extremely nervous. But Dr. Prakash and Stacy were fantastic. Gave me plenty of numbing and lots of positive encouragement. Everything was done before I knew it. If you're looking for a great place to go - this is it!

Dr Prakash and everyone at Apex is great! I took my mom in for a root canal and we were in and out in about 90 minutes. Who isn’t nervous at the dentist office? But Dr Prakash’s calm approach and friendly bedside manner put us at ease right away. I highly recommend her if you are looking for someone qualified, and who can get the job done. 5 stars for sure!
